What We Stand For
SU Renovation
We are excited about the Student Union Renovation project, and believe this new space will allow for more student organizations to grow and interact.
We also know that in order for this renovation to happen, there there will be an interim period that will be difficult for student businesses and organizations as they are relocated from the student union.
We are committed to working with all student businesses and student groups during the transition. We plan to:

We also know that in order for this renovation to happen, there there will be an interim period that will be difficult for student businesses and organizations as they are relocated from the student union.
We are committed to working with all student businesses and student groups during the transition. We plan to:
- Meet with all student businesses and agencies in the student union consistently over the duration of the spring semester to continue making plans for their interim space, as well as receiving finalized input on what they want to see in their new space
- Stay in constant communication about the progress of the interim space, and ensure that students are being notified of this as well
- Check in with student businesses, agencies, and RSOs on a regular basis over the summer to ensure that the space is coming along in a timely manner and includes everything that students need from it
RSOs
We would like to continue improving all processes involving RSOs on campus. This includes space booking, event planning, and funding. We want to acknowledge more student groups within our community and give them privileges through the University without needing for them all to have as many regulations as RSOs do. This may mean giving some groups the ability to book rooms, but not to receive a budget.
Student Businesses
We are proud of every student business on this campus and will ensure their continued existence. We will be there to support student businesses when they need help and encourage all students to utilize these student run initiatives.
We want to build better connections between student businesses and RSOs that use resources these businesses have to offer. For example, any printing an RSO needs could be done through Campus Design and Copy, and food RSOs have at their events and meetings can be catered by the various food service student businesses. We will work with events spaces to create a streamlined way for the businesses to provide food as easily as UMass Catering would be.

Club sports
We are committed to advocating for increased space and utilities for club sports as we recognize the importance of these organizations on our campus. We hope to continue to advocate for club sports space at the Hills house site as well as increased hours that club sports can use facilities across campus.

Sustainability
- We are committed to pursuing a zero-waste campus
- Continuing to support transitioning the PVTA to zero emission busses
- Commitment to finding solutions that reduce the need for UMass water bottles
International Students
We will advocate for international students on campus and increase recruitment of international students to the SGA in order to have a more representative body. We also want to look for new pathways for scholarships to aid international students. Sexual Assault on Campus: “Among undergraduate students, 23.1% of females and 5.4% of males experience rape or sexual assault through physical force, violence, or incapacitation.” This statistic is striking, and we know that UMass is not an exception from it. We are committed to doing all that is possible to combat campus rape culture, and we want to advocate for policies that would better educate students and spread awareness about sexual assault and how to report it. |
